Below is information from Leigh Ford's presentation from the SC Solar Council 2015 Fall Meeting.  Leigh is with the Office of Regulatory Staff.

PACE’S MISSION

  • The purpose of PaCE:  “The promotion, support, research, development, demonstration or commercialization of renewable electric power…”
  • Since 2009, PaCE has bought REC’s from renewable energy facilities in the state.  With the new DER Programs, IOU’s will own the REC’s.

PACE NEEDS YOUR HELP

In order to fulfill our commitment to our donors, PaCE is revisiting its mission statement and initiating 2 new programs to bring the benefits of solar power to organizations that could not participate in the IOU DER Programs otherwise:  Schools and Multi-Family Shelters


SCHOOLS

SOLAR INSTALLATION GRANTS FOR SCHOOLS

  • Award up to $61,200 to eligible school for the installation of a 20 kW system
  • Requires matching funds based on district free and reduced lunch enrollment
  • Matching funds can be in-kind donations from installer or suppliers
  • School must meet criteria to receive award

CRITERIA FOR  SCHOOLS

  • Non-profit
  • K-12 school
  • IOU customer
  • Application includes detailed project cost estimate from a qualified solar provider
  • Cost per watt (DC) does not exceed $3.40, regardless of system size
  • Adequate roof (less than 5 years old) OR sufficient area for ground mount
  • Matching funds or in-kind donations identified

FUNDING BY SCHOOL DISTRICTS

Free and Reduced Lunch enrollment and matching funds:

  • fewer than 50% = 50% of the installation cost
  • 51-60% = 40% of the installation costs
  • 61-70% =30% of the installation costs
  • 71-85% =20% of the installation costs
  • more than 85% =10% of the installation costs


MULTI-FAMILY SHELTERS

SOLAR INSTALLATION GRANTS FOR MULTI-FAMILY SHELTERS

  • Multi-family, supportive housing
    • homeless shelter
    • domestic violence shelters
    • children’s homes
  • Award up to $68,000 for the installation of a 20 kW system
  • No requirement for matching funds
  • Must meet criteria for award

CRITERIA FOR SHELTERS

  • Non-profit
  • IOU customer
  • Application includes detailed project cost estimate from a qualified solar provider
  • Cost per watt (DC) does not exceed $3.40, regardless of system size
  • Facility used day and night
  • Provides housing for at least 10 people on a temporary or semi-permanent basis
  • Adequate roof (less than 5 years old) OR sufficient area for ground mount

 

FINE PRINT

  • All awards will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Money will be reserved for recipient for 180 days and paid once PaCE receives proof of interconnection with the utility
  • Recipient is encouraged to apply for appropriate DER incentives prior to interconnection with the utility

  • Fill out the applications--available on the website November 16
  • Help PaCE promote solar for everyone
